Your spa needs a solid, level surface that can handle significant weight. A filled hot tub typically weighs between 3,000 and 6,000 pounds depending on size. Poured concrete pads (at least 4 inches thick) are the most common choice. Reinforced decking built to handle the load works well too, as do compacted gravel beds with proper drainage. The surface must be level within 1/4 inch across the entire footprint. Uneven surfaces can cause stress on the cabinet and shell over time. Before you commit to a foundation type, check with your dealer; they know the specific requirements for your model and can connect you with local contractors who've done this before.

Jets: The number, type, and placement of jets matter more than the total count. Directional jets target specific muscle groups; rotary jets provide a broader massage. Look for adjustable jets so each person can customize the pressure. Pumps: More pumps generally means more jets running simultaneously at full power. A spa with two pumps can deliver a noticeably more powerful experience than one with a single pump. Filtration: Clean water depends on good filtration. Sundance® spas use a multi-stage filtration system that keeps water cleaner with less chemical maintenance. Controls: Intuitive topside controls let you adjust temperature, jets, and lighting easily. Many models also connect to a smartphone app for remote monitoring. Lighting: LED lighting , including underwater and perimeter lights, extends evening use and sets the mood. Insulation: Full-foam insulation retains heat more efficiently, which affects your monthly energy costs. Cover: A well-fitting insulated cover is essential. It retains heat, keeps debris out, and is a safety requirement if children are around.

A lounge seat is a full-length reclined position that lets you stretch out completely so your whole body is in the water, and jets are positioned along your back, legs, and feet. It's ideal for people who want a full-body soak and targeted lower-back or leg massage. An open (upright) seat positions you in a seated posture with jets aimed at your back, shoulders, and neck. You have more freedom to move and interact with other people in the spa. The trade-off: a lounge seat takes up significantly more space in the footwell, which can limit how many people comfortably fit at once. A spa with one lounge and four open seats may feel crowded when all five are occupied. Think about how you'll actually use the spa as solo relaxation benefits from a lounge; social soaks generally work better with open seating throughout.
